Some final thoughts..

Dear fifth graders,
As you know I am back at 5B but I wanted to leave you with some final thoughts and hear some of yours. I had a fantastic weekend hiking after the conference was over. I took this one treacherous dirt road way up into the mountains in search of the Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep. I fad never seen them in the wild and really wanted to. I was rewarded for my persistence by coming upon a group of these wonderful animals coming up on the ridge. It was really thrilling.

The second day I hiked in an area with a lot of cool rock formations. I got attacked by chipmunks when I stopped for a snack!

It is good to be back at Briggs. I met a lot of nice and interesting people from all over the world. I learned a lot and have some good new ideas for science activities!
Here are my final thoughts and I want you to write some of yours.

  • You learn a lot from traveling, no matter where you go.
  • Keep your eyes and your mind open. A lot of things we all believe may not be correct. Remember, people once thought the world was flat!!
  • We share our world with all the plants and animals. They are not there just to pose for pictures or to provide food and other things we need. It's their world too. All the more reason to take care of our beautiful planet.
  • Good to be back!
Your friend,
Ms. Bennett

  2. Dear, Mrs. Bennett
you are right those rock formations are pretty cool, and how did you get that chipmunk so close, did you zoom in or was it actually that close?I believe that animals are a part of our planet too but they get sick because of pollution or die because of habitat loss and global warming

I think that the chipmunk looks so cute. i love little animals. Why did they attack you? Did you have something that attracted them? I'm just glad you are back in 5b with us.

  6. Mrs. Bennett,

I think that animals are almost the same and should be treated with the same respect as we should because we are also technically animals and it is their world too.

  7. Dear Mrs. Bennett,
It seems as though you had a wonderful time! and so did the chipmunks! did you hike up the whole mountain in the second picture or did you just go half way? Was anybody with you at the time? By the way, the ''bighorn sheep'' look like rams. the rock formations are very cool! i wish that i was there but, if i went, everybody else would want to go and i don't think that we can all fit in your rental car. ;)

  12. Dear Miss Bennett,
I think traveling is fun. A lot of fun. Well the animal are part of the planet like you said and it`s really fun to watch them and what they do too. I almost forgot looking up at the clouds and looking at the shapes is fun to do with your friends I have done that before. I love going on trips to different places next year my sisters going to Italy with the school. I wish i could do that I`m half Italian. I`m glad you`re back!!!!!! :) :P

  13. Dear Ms. Bennett,
I think that everybody should enjoy what they see and really focus on the thing because who knows what is going to happen, you may never see that thing ever again. So you might as well enjoy every minute of it! By taking pictures, like you did, that is a great way to capture the moment. With a photo you will never forget it. Also you should believe everything you see with your own two eyes in nature. Usually, in nature everything you see is real. When you tell people about it, they might not believe it, but you'll always know it's true and real!

    Glad to have you back!!!

  16. Dear Mrs. Bennett,
I am so glad you are back. And i do learn a lot from traveling no matter where i go. And i think the best memories are out side either hiking or biking or even sitting high in a tree,( but don't worry i am always holding on). I also think that people should spend more time outside then inside playing with electronics or watching TV. My Dad and I actually went on a hike not to long ago, it was just me him and my dog Tucker hes the best dog ever! we hiked 8 miles, and we were out there for two days maybe i could tell you more about it in person there is a lot i could tell you.

    Glad You Are Back,
    ABBI W
